After sitting in our new office chairs for two days straight, I’ve noticed that I have a new ache in my back and pain in my hip. Obviously, this new chair and I do not get along. So, now I am on a quest to pick out the perfect office chair for myself to alleviate these new aches and pains. Here is the list of my criteria when looking for a new chair from spine-health.com:

Seat Height – should be adjustable and typical 16” to 21” off the floor.

Seat Depth and Width – Standard is 17” – 20”. Check to see if it has a backward/forward tilt.

Lumbar Support – super important and should be adjustable considering that everyone’s lumbar is different J.

Backrest –should be 12” – 19” wide. If the office chair has the seat and backrest together as one piece, the backrest should be adjustable in forward and back angles, with a locking mechanism to secure it from going too far backward once the user has determined the appropriate angle.

Seat Material – fabric cloth is preferable considering that it breathes much better, but any kind is fine as long as there is enough cushion to sit for an extended amount of time.

Armrests – should be adjustable length and width wise to help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome.

Swivel – fun and function to prevent straining when reaching different areas of your desk.

Here is a great variety of office chairs and I picked the High Backrest Task Chair with Backrest Angle Adjuster.

When walking into an office, the first thing you notice is the office furniture, not the art or color of the carpet. The furniture instantly sets the tone for the whole office, clients and employees included. It either says that your company is ultra modern with glass desks and wire frames or ultra conservative with wood paneled cubicles and deep mahogany desks. Do you want to seem comfortable, but not nonchalant, or professional, but not uptight?

The first place to start is with the desks. The desk is almost always the focal point of the entire office, depending on the industry deems what size or shape the desk needs to be. If your employees are only making calls and working on the computer, then you do not need as big of a desk. But, if you are an interior designer dealing with clients and large schematic drawings, then you will need a very large desk (probably accomplished through an L-shape).

Next move onto the surroundings of the desk – shelves. How many is an employee going to need? Will they need whole bookcases for binders, files, portfolios, and catalogs or do they just need a bit of space for family photos and small printer?

After picking out these main pieces of furniture, it’s time to pick out the smaller details such as lighting. Make sure that the lighting and/or lamps are consistent throughout the entire office. The other final touches such as plants, frames, art, etc. will come with time and many trials.

Here are our top results for Office Furniture. Check us out for all your home, office, or garden needs at www.bongobing.com.

Last week after pondering the trade offs of curtains or shades, I still haven’t come to any conclusion about which one to buy. So, this week I’d rather think about vacuums (since the apartment is about 90% carpet) because curtains are making me want to tear my hair out.

When I went to the store to pick out a new handy dandy vacuum I realized that there are a million different vacuums in various shapes, sizes and colors and I had absolutely no idea what the difference was between a Dirt Devil 082500 and a Metro DataVac Pro Series Vacuum with .5 PHP motor meant, so I came back home to do some reconnaissance online. So far, here are the questions and answers to some basic questions regarding vacuuming online:

Q e vacuum cleaners damaging my carpets?

First and foremost, dirt and grime to more damage to your carpet than any cleaning ever would. With that said, there are various settings which can be adjusted on your vacuuming depending on what surface you are cleaning. Don’t be shy and put it on the lowest setting just because you are concerned that those beater bars and brush pulls are doing too much damage to the carpet fibers. A typical carpet can stand to be vacuumed several times a week on a medium setting without any noticeable difference, but if dirt is left there, then it will begin to pile up and will actually break down the fibers which leads to it becoming a breeding ground for dust mites and bacteria. EWWW.

Q Which “style” of vacuum cleaner to I choose?

Upright cleaners are best for easy storage (aka the cleaning closet) and for many different gadget options, but are the worst for maintenance since you have to clean them, get the belts, replaced, etc.

Canister vacuums are good for one story houses since they are on wheels, but they typically are harder to clean out than upright vacuums since filtration system and dust bags are in the canister.

Q How do I maintain a vacuum cleaner?

Check with the manufacturer as to how often you should replace the filter and/or the dust bag. Some vacuums need to be emptied every time while other can last around three months without emptying. Also, before buying check the manufacturers website to see how often the belts and brushes need to be replaced .

On BongoBing.com you can find many different vacuums depending on which type you have deemed best for your needs. Here is the one which I thought was the best value for the price, Hoover s332. Iit has 360 degree swivel, variable suction control, and 3 piece on-board tool organizer which is just enough to get the job done, but not too many to create extra weight.

Since moving into my new apartment, I have realized that interior decorating is much harder than it looks. I’ve always been one to grab the “Pottery Barn” magazines or even glance through the “Crate and Barrel” mail order catalogue when it comes in the mail, but making green match with light pink (honestly they really achieved this feat in one of their more recent editions) on your own never ends up the way it looks in the magazines.

The most recent obstacle I have had to face is curtain selection. No one tells you if you buy a light blue with cream embroidery comforter set then the accent color is actually” fill in the blank here”. So, after looking around the internet, I found a great article How To Pick Curtains (http://bit.ly/alnPw). Unfortunately, they do not include accent colors or “if you wall color is this then go with these curtains,” but at least it points you in the right direction. Basically it boils down to this:

1. Measure your window and decide how long you want your curtains.

2. Decide if you want sheer (to “enhance natural light”) or the ultimate dream for people who like to sleep in the “blackout curtains” or any combination of the two.

3. Buy a curtain rod which extends 4 – 6 inches past your window measurements.

4. Hang and enjoy.

If you can’t decide on curtains or window treatments then check out BongoBing which has a huge assortment of window blinds which look great as well. Here is the link to the collection: http://www.bongobing.com/search.php?search.x=0&search.y=0&searchtext=window+blinds&first=1&searchtype=p. I think I’m just going to stick with the simplicity of roman shades and I’ll let you know how it goes in the next update.

I decided to create this blog because I realized that at BongoBing we have a lot of interesting products (marketing plug ), but more importantly, we are here to help the users find, keep track of, and share the products which they find throughout the internet in order to make your BongoBing experience better.

So, this blog will share something interesting everyday about a different product (with an unbiased point of view) and hopefully you shop the internet (a big goal- I know but definitely possible!). I found that when searching through the internet is it very easy to get lost and forget about the great product which you found last week, so hopefully this blog gives you something interesting to read everyday.
